A couple of weeks ago, on Retrogamecoding forum John asked me if a Windows version would help to make BaCon more popular. I replied that no - I don't think so, however a bit more modern website could help. If you think that this is a good idea, I can try to do something about it. It will be exactly the same content in a modern layout. It shouldn't take me more than an hour to do it. I think that some time ago, I emailed Peter about it, but I don't remember if he said "no" or didn't reply. I'm not trying to be pushy. I'm just offering my help.

BTW If you think it's a stupid idea, you can tell me that. In fact, I prefer to hear anything than to hear nothing.

Hi Tomaaz, Thanks for the offer! As a matter of fact, my design skills and artistic qualities are very poor. So, as long as I need to make a design, it is 100% sure that the website will not get better than the current one Therefore, please feel free to create something, because I'm already sure the result will be better. So I would be happy to replace the current site, of course with your credentials etc. Regarding the popularity of BaCon, just for the record, it's never been the intention to look for world-domination - I have mentioned this repeatedly on other places also. (Nevertheless, it makes me happy to see how people are using BaCon and what they achieve with it.) Also note that shortly, BaCon will see a major update in 3.5, which will be the biggest update in its existence, and which, hopefully, will provide more people the joy of hacking around. The 3.5 release will contain a lot of exciting new features, most of which forum member vovchik is the architect. So, if we can release both the new website and BaCon 3.5 at the same time, it would be a major step forward! Thanks again, and best regards Peter

Hi Tomaaz, Regarding the popularity of BaCon, just for the record, it's never been the intention to look for world-domination - I have mentioned this repeatedly on other places also. (Nevertheless, it makes me happy to see how people are using BaCon and what they achieve with it.) I know. But I still believe that BaCon deserves more popularity and if the website can help to attract a couple of new users, that's already something. OK. That's how it may look - click. I've copied the entire BaCon website to my server temporarily, so it looks exactly the same it will look on your server. It's a static, client side website, so the whole process of updating is extremely easy. You need to replace your index.html with the new one and add some things like CSS and JavaScript. Shouldn't take more than 3 min. The site is responsive, so it will look good on mobile devices as well. I've used a free Bootstrap web template for it. You don't need to give me any credit as all the content is yours and the layout's been created by the author of the template. I just made the two to work together, however if you want to put information about mu involvement in the website, I'm not gonna say "no". If you have a basic knowledge of HTML, updating the site will be extremely easy for you (just edit the index file on your computer and upload to the server). Of course, I'm always happy to help. Let me know if you like it. If you do,I will send you the updated index.html file together with rest of the files required for the new layout.

Thanks Tomaaz, What a difference this is! The site looks modern and attractive. Of course I am going to adopt it! (Apart from this nice look and feel, I guess some of the site content needs an update also...) So I will try to migrate today, but I hope you can leave the site up until tomorrow, so I will have time then to align and crosscheck the new site with your example. Thanks a lot! BR Peter

Glad you like it! All the files needed for the update are attached to this post. Just upload them to the server (replace old index.html with the new one, when asked). They will will work nicely with the rest of the content so nothing else must be changed. Attachments:BaCon-website.zip (207.93 KB)

Thanks again Tomaaz! I have migrated the site to your template, indeed it was not so much work. The HTML code remains maintainable and the site now really looks a lot better! @ rikky: I have changed the color for links to dark blue, hope it works for you? @ all: the "functions" section is gone now, most of them are available in BaCon anyway. Please let me know if something is wrong or you want to have something added/changed. The new website is at the usual URL. Best regards Peter
