OPTION COMPARE doesn't seem to work for EXTRACT$

According to the documentation:

The COMPARE argument defines if string comparisons in the IF and IIF/IIF$ statements and in the BETWEEN operator and also in regular expressions with REPLACE$, EXTRACT$, REGEX and WALK$ should be case sensitive (0) or not (1). The default is case sensitive (0).

Well, I'm not natively English speaking, and after numerous attempts, I still don't grasp the regular expressions thing, but I suppose that the above means that the following should work:

OPTION COMPARE TRUE

string$ = "a b c"
PRINT EXTRACT$(string$, "B")
But it doesn't.
The response is:

a b c
should be:

a  c

In case of EXTRACT$ it only works with regular expressions. As the documentation you have quoted says:

and also in regular expressions with REPLACE$, EXTRACT$...

Also at the EXTRACT$ function description:

The optional flag determines if the <y$> should be taken as a regular expression where OPTION COMPARE establishes case insensitive expression matching.

Therefore, you code should be:

OPTION COMPARE TRUE

string$ = "a b c"
PRINT EXTRACT$(string$, "B", TRUE)


Now you should see the correct result.
