Peter, I am a Windows Insider and just received the latest Windows 10 Insider update. This update includes a Ubuntu bash shell. It is not a VM. blogs.windows.com/buildingapps/2016/03/30/run-bash-on-ubuntu-on-windows/channel9.msdn.com/Events/Build/2016/P488I installed it, gcc and a couple others using apt-get install and built BaCon from source. Took forever but it did compile. Tried a simple PRINT "Hello World" and it worked. I am having an issue with my translator when translating to "c"? c++ seems ok gcc/g++ compiler is 4.8.4 Just thought you would like to know. No desktop or gui but I did install the gtk2 dev package only because I wanted glib and gobject. James

Thanks James, That's interesting. Though I wonder if everything can be compiled. For example, the EXEC$ function uses 'fork()', which typically is a C function not available in Windows. Anyway, if some programs compile natively, then I guess it's a gain BR Peter
