Peter, tcc (.94) has issues with regex.h on my ubu32 system.

For me it seems to work on my Ubu32, but you must use the latest TCC 0.9.25 and not the one from Synaptic:

That was it. 9.25 works fine and is FAST. FWIW g++ almost work. I think only one conflict. Give it a try James

Thanks for the feedback. TCC is fast indeed but the resulting binary is bigger and cannot be trimmed down with 'strip'. For g++ it seems there is a conflict with 'round' and 'lrint, these are declared as 'extern' in the BaCon source but for some reason g++ doesn't like that... also there are a lot of 'deprecated' warnings... so if I have time I'll take a look at it.
