Hello,
I thought I could use common sense to solve this, but it looks like I have less common sense than I thought - or that common sense might not be enough!
I am compiling BaCON from source on a Ubuntu Mate system. hug.bac is include in the main source file. However, it keeps throwing a "Gtk library not found!" at runtime.
locate libgtk-x11-2.0.so
shows
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libgtk-x11-2.0.so.0 /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libgtk-x11-2.0.so.0.2400.32 So, I tried going back to the configure script and executing
./configure --libdir=/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu
My program compiles fine, but I keep getting the HUG error. It is becoming a little frustrating. Could someone please point me in the right direction?
Thanks!

Hi Anurup, There can be multiple reasons for such error. - You have compiled BaCon in 64bit but the GTK library is in 32bit (or vv) - The GTK libraries are not available in your LD path, you can check this with: ldconfig -p | grep libgtk-x11-2.0.so.0 - Maybe you need to update your LD cache: ldconfig
- Maybe you ran into the obscure bug detected earlier by forum member Alex, the fix for this is available in the latest betaPlease let me know your results, Peter

Thanks Pjot!
I double checked all the points in order as you had suggested - although I was fairly sure that they were not the reason.
It turns out that the beta tarball did the trick. I don't think that I have enough programming chops to understand the obscure bug that you refer to - but I am grateful for this speedy resolution. One observation though - might be an individual installation anomaly on the system that I was using, the window title didn't appear. Everything else worked.
My dad is a medical practitioner and I had written a GUI based patient record-keeping system in BaCON many years back. It needed a bit of a revamp and I had to get back to the source code.
My gratitude again for this wonderful project, and last but not least, for your assistance.
