Dear Ptitjoz, Just do a search of the forum. Peter and I have posted mp3, soundfont, DSP, wav and other players, all using different methods to produce sounds. Rather recently I posted soundfont and bleep programs. With kind regards, vovchik PS. I found some links and attached a few sources: squawksfbleepAttachments:soundgen.tar.gz (510.45 KB)

Dear Joz, You might have to install osspd or an oss or alsa compatibility package to get the /dev/dsp device. Then beep should work, too. You could install: sudo apt-get install osspd-alsa and the compatibility bit. I also found a note in one of my own progs: For sound, you might need to load the OSS ' compatibility module first so the program can find ' the /dev/dsp device file: ' install oss-compat (sudo apt-get install oss-compat) and then ' type sudo modprobe snd-pcm-oss in a terminal With kind regards, PS. I found a wave player I wrote in March: bwplay. vovchik
