Dear all, Here is a gui wrapper in hug-fltk for the trans program ( trans link) that Alex recently discovered. The trans program is embedded within the gui wrapper, so you don't have to do any installation, apart from compiling gxlat (everything is in the archive). You will get one binary that, when UPX'd on my machine, weighs in at about 89k and should work from anywhere. You do not need a browser to get google translations, and it works pretty fast. Have fun. Dear Peter,
Thanks for testing and your kind words. I wonder whether gxlat could use a tab for storing cumulative translations, together with a "Save" button that would open a file manager in "save" mode - or simply a "Save" button to dump the translated text or both source and target versions (for subsequent editing and refinement). It might be more convenient than opening a separate text editor each time you load gxlat. What do you think? It should be easy to implement.
With kind regards, vovchik

Dear vovchik, Well, that's already ahead of the way I would use this tool, as I myself never would keep track of a translation history. But I'm just speaking for myself... however, the functionality you propose does not seem to be too difficult indeed. Best regards Peter

Parece muito bom, tudo funciona como anunciado Выглядит очень хорошо, все работает как рекламируемое Φαίνεται πολύ ωραία, όλα λειτουργούν όπως διαφημίζονται [33m[WARNING] Arabic is a right-to-left language, but FriBidi is not found.[0m نلعم وه امك لامعألا لك ، ادج ةفيطل ودبت [WARNING] Hebrew is a right-to-left language, but FriBidi is not found. םסרופש יפכ דבוע לכ ,דואמ דמחנ הארנ and the following give the right characters in the console, but squares in the GUI However, if you select the squares in the GUI, and middleclick in the console, or even Geany, I get the right characters pasted. Which means I have these characters installed somewhere. amharic => በጣም ጥሩ ይመስላል, ሁሉም ስራዎች እንደሚታተሙ chinese => 看起来非常好,所有的作品都是广告 hindi => बहुत अच्छा लगता है, विज्ञापन के रूप में सभी काम करता है Nice. Dear Rik,
Thanks for trying gxlat and the report. I have the same experience as you with fonts in the console, and have experimented with Arial Unicode MS, which shows more in the fltk windows. Still looking into that. As for the FriBidi warning, you can install this:
sudo apt-get install libfribidi-bin
to get rid of it. The code is tiny, and right-to-left languages will show up correctly after it is installed.
With kind regards, vovchik
