Hi Aurel,
You have to make sure the development tools are installed. Please try to install the following first, even before executing the 'configure' script:
# sudo apt-get install build-essential # sudo apt-get install make
After this, run './configure' again and the 'make' command should start compilation.

Dear Aurel,
The Makefile is executed by using "make" on the command line.
Do you have the "make" utility on your system at all? What is the output of
# which make

hello aurel
follow Peter's advice to see if make is installed first
the config.log would give more info if you could attach it in the forum post as a tar.gz file
debian based allows debian package tools to work but every version of a debian base could come with many packages preinstalled or the bare minimum
but this should work below and make sure you run as sudo
Joe
# make sure the package manager is connected # to the latest packages initialized
sudo apt-get update
# dependencies for bacon
sudo apt-get install enscript sudo apt-get install xterm sudo apt-get install indent sudo apt-get install libfltk1.3
# you may need these also if you have # a small debian distro for the GUI
sudo apt-get install libxft-dev sudo apt-get install libjpeg-dev sudo apt-get install libcairo2-dev
./configure --prefix=/usr --enable-gui-fltk
make sudo make install

# which makeafter that i normally press ENTER and then nothing how is that possible ? So it seems that you do not have the 'make' utility installed on your system. As mentioned previously, you could install it by something like # sudo apt-get install build-essential ...or something like that. HTH Peter

Thanks Aurel,
I can see that the Makefile is created correctly. In spite of your system lacking the header files for any of the GUI versions, it should compile the binaries properly.
Can you try to execute the attached 'configure' script instead and send us the output you see on the screen? This configure-script will check for the presence of the 'make' utility. If it is not present, the Makefile will not be created.
Note that some distro's need '# sudo apt-get install make' or '# sudo apt-get install make-tool' or some other command to ensure the presence of 'make'.
HTH Peter

Hi Aurel,
Clearly, something is very wrong with your build environment - the error now shows that you are missing the "C++" compiler, so the compilation for the C++ compatible library fails.
You mention a reboot, did you run the './configure' script again, after the reboot? It should detect the presence of the C++ compiler on your system.
BR Peter
