I've been using this editor for a couple of weeks now and I'm really liking it. ;D In fact, I haven't touched the command line incarnation since version 20.
Here are a few minor suggestions for the next version:
When using the editor with a dark gtk theme, there is a white space between the top windowbar and the menubar. Attached is a picture that shows this.
I modified the code (lines 1939 and 1940) to look like:
gtk_box_pack_start(vbox, menubar, 0, 0, 0) gtk_box_pack_start(vbox, g_Notebook, 1, 1, 2)
This takes the white space out and keeps the gap between the top of the notebook tab and the bottom of the menu the same.
Another thing I noticed is that sometimes there is a delay between executing the binary and when the gui is displayed. On my main machine its not long but on my eeepc it seems like the program has died. I'm assuming that its checking and/or downloading the syntax file from the website. Perhaps you could add a notify window with something like "Checking syntax file version" or have the check after the gui has loaded.
Other than that, keep up the good work!
Also attached the .desktop file that I use for the menu entry. The icon "bacon.png" is the one posted by fragadelic.

Thanks 2lss,
The screenshots are enlightening, I will apply the changes as you suggested.
For the delay in the start, it is caused by the search routine for the 'libgtkhtml' library, on my EEEPC I experience the same thing if 'libgtkhtml' is not installed. So I will see if this can be optimized.
Thanks again! Peter
