Hey vovchik

@ Alex Your image of the elementary cube looks great will try to compile it late tonight when I get home from work and give some feedback

Dear Joe and all, Thanks. I can post a GTK2 version too - but I made many chages and they are not really changes involving gtk3but more about moving all the drawing into memory via pixbufs - and not reading the svgs from /dev/shm, as ws the case. I think it should compile fine in old HUG and gtk2 as well, although I haven't yet tried. Here is a new one that - at the end where I had the colors I use another gradient fill. I think it looks pretty good, but nothing like Alex's great job in elementary With kind regards, vovchik PS. I just compiled this thing in HUG and gtk2. The only change is the include: hug.bac and not hug3.bac. Attachments:cube_bg_grad.tar.gz (53.65 KB)

Hi Vovchik & @ Joe did a partial mod to the cube bits using the algo on the Elementary thread here it is just drawing the lines , should be easy to mod to a GLENZ solid effect BR Alex Attachments:cube02.bac.tar.bz2 (3.28 KB)

Dear Alex, Joe and all, I implemented Alex's algorithm and provided some gradient fills to give a 3D effect. Interesting.... With kind regards, vovchik

Dear Alex, Thanks. The nice thing with these latest demos is they can be compiled for gtk2 or gtk3 with the only change being the hug include file. It means Joe's hug3 is really performing as it should. With kind regards, vovchik

Hey guys Nice demos ! and who needs java to do stuff like that Joe ========================================= P,S Alex about the elm stuff ========================================= It is a lib problem on my side please keep up the great work and post your compile output so we can see what may be missing (which libs need to be installed and what version #) I spent some time today trying to build emotion 1.7.7 from source but it failed will try on the weekend again this how far I got mint 17 uses 1.7.7 as the default packages dpkg -l libecore-dev
for I in eina eet evas embryo ecore eio edje efreet e_dbus \ evas_generic_loaders ethumb eeze emotion elementary; do \ wget http://download.enlightenment.org/releases/$I-1.7.7.tar.gz; \ done
wget http://download.enlightenment.org/releases/enlightenment-0.17.0.tar.gz
# I cd into emotion here then
./configure --disable-gnutls --prefix=/usr
export PATH=/usr/bin:$PATH export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/lib:$LD_LIBRARY_PATH export PKG_CONFIG_PATH=/usr/lib/pkgconfig:$PKG_CONFIG_PATH export CFLAGS="-O3 -fvisibility=hidden -ffast-math"
make

Hi Joe can get a better picture of what is required looking at the lower end libs download.enlightenment.org/releases/Elementary is above , say if download emotion , then do a ./configure --prefix=/usr this will show what other libs are required for the build. HTH Alex

Dear Alex,
Before compiling a new replacement for 1.77, can you verify that the new version handles svgs? I know you had a problem there some time ago. Has that been fixed? If not, I think I will have to hold off on upgrading until they fix the loader.
With kind regards, vovchik

Hi Vovchik
not sure if this is Elm problem , but do have system svg/png base problem , think U already aware of this
need to check something ,
can U post Kernel version + what was the default Kernel if any.
also libpng lib pixbuff and lib rsvg + cairo versions .
have done a rebuild of some of those bits to get Convert to work but still have a problem there.
IE can not convert from png to svg . ie the error header warning gone . but the resultant file is png . although the postfix = .svg
looking at my system can tell there have been other conversions done but the file browser still shows that the .svg is png IE the thumbnail does not show an image. shit happens but this is true.
One bit I will be looking at is this lib png / my version = 12 . will also check pixbuf
will look at this in more detail , also update soon when I do more testing . have downloaded rsvg source and going to rebuild that as well..
Hence if in doubt hold back.

Dear Alex,
I have got the following installed:
libpng12.so.0.49.0 and libpng.so.3 libgdk_pixbuf-2.0.so.0.2800.1 libcairo.so.2.11200.16 librsvg-2.so.2.36.4
this kernel:
Linux vovchik01 3.11.0-12-generic #19-Ubuntu SMP Wed Oct 9 16:12:00 UTC 2013 i686 i686 i686 GNU/Linux
and the following pixbuf loaders:
libpixbufloader-jasper.so libpixbufloader-qtif.so libpixbufloader-jpeg.so libpixbufloader-gif.so libpixbufloader-xpm.so libpixbufloader-svg.so libpixbufloader-ico.so libpixbufloader-tiff.so libpixbufloader-tga.so libpixbufloader-pcx.so libpixbufloader-ani.so libpixbufloader-bmp.so libpixbufloader-wbmp.so libpixbufloader-ras.so libpixbufloader-icns.so libpixbufloader-xbm.so libpixbufloader-png.so libpixbufloader-pnm.so
I seem to recall that cario can be compiled with svg support and without. That may be the problem...
With kind regards, vovchik

Hi Vovchik
my kernel is different to yours , my sys is i686PAE as recommended by mint at the time of install
always thought the original build was doggy at the time 'Mint mate Debian' installed i486 at default , this was causing overheating problems since i486 build is single-core centric / esp on Intel processors
in one word at the time 'bollocks' what a pile of shit. 1.3 gb of download and 1/4 of a system . now convinced it still is pile of what i mentioned.
Think Time to change.. have persevered to a point of no return.
did some re installs and still the same
double checked Convert that is still the same
BR Alex
