Hi everyone! I would like to announce a companion site to BaCon called Bacon Bitz! It is mostly done now but could use all of your help with code examples, libs, tuts and completed projects for users to play and learn from. Please check it out and let me know what you guys think. www.baconbitz.weebly.comThanks everyone! John

Hi John,
I was thinking of doing something like this, you beat me to it. Writing tutorials is a good way of learning as well as helping others. You might like to start with some of the test programs at the end of the main BaCon page and maybe some of bigbass' nice widget examples. You could modify them a bit and maybe add some explanatory comments.
Good job!

Thanks guy!
I thought that doing tuts would help me too as it will force me to look at the code better so I can explain it down to mundane level.
I plan on doing some tuts on widgets but plan to use them in a way that will do something. Like " here is a button " and " let's make it do something fun" kind of thing. I can hang a button or radio button on a form but what I want to know is how to make it do something useful.
We will see but yea, Bigbass's examples are great and I hope to expand on them if he does not beat me to it.....

jacobiteNow that I have had time to think about what you said about making your own site about BaCon, I would have to say GO FOR IT! Others might disagree with me and bring up notions of fragmentation and what not but at this point, I would not worry about it. The more sites found in Google or Bing, the better. How many sites do you find for Python or C or whatever? Now I know that BaCon will never be as big as C or Python but it could grow and have a much larger user base. (Sorry Peter) Let me know if you want help with graphics, logo's and link-backs to your site if you make one. This goes for anyone who has a BaCon site or wants to have one... John

Finally updated the site with my ob-logout for users do download and use in the projects page. Putting up a tutorial and files on how to install the GTK3 32 & 64 bit version of BaCon when I get done with it. Sunburnt sent me a file with about 20 bits of code so new users will not have to reinvent the wheel. Will take me a bit to figure out what they are so I can give a description for them. This should be some kind of fun. Thanks for the files Sunburnt! John

Sure thing! The site is for everyone. I suck at programming but I do OK with graphics and web sites. LOL If you need a password for the site to edit stuff, let me know. John

Updated the Code section with some snippets of code from Sunburnt and one by Pjot.
I decided to just post the .bac files as giving all code its own section would have taken a ton of room so I had to redo it part way through but it should all look good now.

Finally got around to making my first programming tutorial inspired by Bigbass's hello world tutorial. You guys are welcome to take a look and tell me what you think of it and please tell me if I goofed on something or spoke wrong on anything. baconbitz.weebly.com/tutorials.htmlJohn

The next few tutorials will be a script manager front end for Conky. The first one will be a little info about Conky and a simple widow to start and stop Conky. Then I will show how to add on to the code to make a better program and then an even better program gaining more and more features as the tutorials go along. This way I can get quite a few of the HUG widgets explained and how to use them. I was thinking about 4 or 5 tutorials in all but time will tell.
Any input is welcome,
John

Due to me being a dumb @ss and not knowing what I was getting into, I'm canceling my idea of using the conky script manager as a tutorial. If I do finish making it, I will throw the code up in the forums here and on my site under projects for users to use or modify.
I need to make much simpler projects for users to learn from so I am open to suggestions. For now I'm trying to stay away from projects that involve importing GTK widgets and only use what can be found in HUG or BaCon.
